ARSENAL CHASE SUAREZ

Arsenal have been interested in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez for the last few weeks and they have made an offer of £ 40 million for the player. They are just a few million pounds below the valuation of Liverpool, but the Merseyside club have stated that they do not want to sell their star player to Arsenal due to the domestic rivalry. Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has said that Suarez should stick with Liverpool rather than joining Arsenal. Suarez has made his desire to join Arsenal public because he wants to play in the Champions league.

Wright has said that he would welcome Suarez to Arsenal because he is a very good player, but he believes that staying at Liverpool represents the best decision for the 26-year-old. He has said that Suarez should give Liverpool at least another season to see whether they qualify for the Champions league or not. The Merseyside club has not been in this competition since 2009, and they seem to be consistently going backwards in the last few years. They finished seventh in the league last season and eight in the season before last.

Wright has also praised the approach by Arsenal to finally spend some money on established players rather than bringing in young players.

“I’d welcome him at Arsenal with open arms. But if I was Suarez, when you look at everything, it does seem strange he would want to go to Arsenal. I would give Liverpool another season. Arsenal finally realise they’ve got to get up there with the big boys otherwise they will be left behind. Suarez is a world-class striker and if he didn’t have all the baggage around him, I feel the Barcelonas, Real Madrids and Bayern Munichs would be sniffing around,” said the former Arsenal and England striker.
