Arsenal are confident of completing the transfer Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Wiegl according to reports from Germany.

Sport Bild revealed that the German side has informed the Gunners that they would need to spend close €30 million to secure the signing of the midfielder.

Wiegl is interested in the move after seeing less play time last season despite the incredible run by the Dortmund team.  Axel Witsel and Thomas Delaney arrival last season resulted in the 23-year-old seeing less game time than previous seasons.

Despite this, the German international is regarded as one of the quality midfielders in Europe capable of playing as a defensive midfielder and Centre back position.

Wiegl uses his wide range of passes to dictate the tempo of the game and has made huge improvements to his game since arriving in 2015.

He is seen as the type of quality midfielder that would bring the sort of impact that Emery desires from the midfield.

Lucas Torreira could be on the move as AC Milan as the player is thought to be unhappy with life in London and Wiegl is being lined up as a replacement for him. The Gunners have been actively pursuing targets and there is anticipation from the club supporters that bug moves could be happening.

Club legend Ian Wright had urged the club to spend big in the summer with his recent tweet about the club’s transfer plans. Arsenal have been linked with several players with the likes of Wilfred Zaha, Carrasco and William Saliba mentioned in the press.

However, with the club’s current financial constraints, it remains to be seen if these moves can be completed without extra funds from the board or sale of players.

From the looks of things, Wiegl transfer could be close to fruition as there has been a lot of noise coming from Germany about the move.
