The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he is an admirer of the Newcastle United midfielder Cheikh Tiote, but has said that the club will not be making any moves for the player in the final few days of the transfer window. Cheikh Tiote has been subject to interest from Chelsea and Manchester city in the past, but there has been no concrete development with regard to his transfer. After losing out a number of stars in the last few transfer windows, Arsenal have been keen to strengthen their squad. Recent reports suggested that they have identified Cheikh Tiote has a possible replacement for Alex Song.

However, the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that there is no truth that rumours linking Arsenal with the Newcastle United midfielder Cheikh Tiote. There has also been interest from Arsenal in the French midfielder Yohan Cabaye, who had an impressive first season in the Premier league. Despite signing two high quality strikers in the summer transfer window, Arsenal have been unable to find the back of the net in the first two matches of the season. Yet, Arsene Wenger has expressed his faith in the players by saying that he expects them to find the back of the net on a more regular basis as they learn to play with each other.

“[Chiekh] Tiote is a good player, but he is not on his way to Arsenal. It is an understanding because you have [Santi] Cazorla, [Lukas] Podolski, [Olivier] Giroud… one month ago they didn’t know each other. So that will come. There is some work to do on the training ground but you can feel the potential. You can see as well that there is something missing – we are not spontaneous enough in some situations,” said Arsene Wenger on the official website of the club.
